Janelle Tasarra

Janelle is a volunteer with Enable OT. She attends Simon Fraser University and is majoring in Health Sciences. She enjoys working with children and hopes to pursue occupational therapy, in the future.

She has played basketball since Grade 4, but also enjoys dancing as she was on the dance team in high-school. Overall, she loves to be active and currently enjoys hiking, biking and going to the gym. Her goal is to travel to more countries, after she graduates - specifically, to Japan!

Fun fact: She has a big sweet tooth and loves to have a sweet treat after every meal.

 

Alicia Hornby

Alicia is a volunteer with Enable OT and is in her fourth year at the University of British Columbia and is studying Biology. She plans to apply to the Master of Occupational Therapy Program once she graduates and hopes to become a pediatric occupational therapist.

Alicia loves working with kids and during the summer, she enjoys working as a camp leader. She also enjoys playing volleyball and has played on a team for over eight years. She currently plays on an intramural volleyball team at UBC.

Alicia also likes to spend time with friends and family, watch Netflix, exercise, and travel. She loves warm weather and wishes she could always be somewhere tropical.

Fun fact: Alicia has a twin sister! 

 
 

Mya Wotton

Mya is a volunteer at Enable OT. She attends a high school in Vancouver. She has always been interested in the healthcare field and hopes to work in it, someday! She was attracted to volunteering with Enable as she likes working with children and was excited to try different types of sessions.

Movement has always been a big part of Mya's life as she enjoys skiing, running and doing karate. In her freetime, you can find Mya with friends and family, reading or exploring the outdoors.

Fun fact: Mya's family has been hosting exchange students from around the world since she was a young child, creating a passion for connecting with people from different backgrounds.

 

Robbie Yang

Robbie is a volunteer at Enable OT and a student at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Biology. He hopes to work in health care in the future!

His past experience includes serving the community including at Windermere Care Center to assist residents with the recreational therapy team as a volunteer, and participating in clubs at school such as World Vision, where he raised funds for children in different countries.

When he has free time, he enjoys going to the gym and travelling to explore different cultures. He also enjoys participating in cooking competitions with his friends (which he won last time!)"

Fun fact: He knows how to juggle! And learned it while on vacation in Mexico!

Phoebe Mak

Phoebe is a volunteer with Enable OT. She worked as a YMCA program coordinator and behavioural interventionist after graduating from UBC Integrated Sciences. She enjoys working with children and is interested in pursuing further studies in occupational therapy.

Phoebe enjoys spending her free time outdoors hiking, camping, skateboarding and snowboarding. She also sings in a choir and competes with her dance team. She loves being active and is looking forward to doing more backpacking trips this summer.

Fun Fact: She has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do!

Sophia Jeon

Sophia is a volunteer at Enable OT and student at Eric Hamber Secondary School, and plans to pursue her studies in psychology, and eventually, a career in the health care field.

Sophia is the president of Best Buddies, and an engaged contributor for school clubs such as Stem Sorority and the Literature club. She is also the Marketing Director for Inspired 2 Uplift and a member of the Youth Council. When she is not volunteering, Sophia enjoys experimenting with new (often chaotic) recipes for her family, trying new food, and meeting new people through video games!

Fun fact: Sophia can do a fabulous impression of Donald Duck. 

Camryn Mawhinney

Camryn recently graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and hopes to pursue a Master of Occupational Therapy degree, later this year, with the goal of becoming a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.

She loves working with kids and has extensive experience teaching skating lessons and coaching Learn to Play softball. She also spent time as a camp leader for summer camps, recently. Her passion is playing softball and played competitively during college. In her spare time, she continues to play softball in a league, these days. Her other favorite activities include going hiking, going to the gym and travelling.

Fun Fact: She will be travelling to Australia for an entire month in January!.

Ryan Chong

Ryan is a volunteer at Enable OT. He graduated with a Health Science degree from Simon Fraser University. Ryan currently works as an adaptive gymnastics coach for neurodivergent kids and volunteers in various rehabilitation settings. Ryan plans to pursue further studies in Occupational Therapy but in the meantime, hopes to do his best for those under his care. 

Ryan enjoys spending his free time dancing, playing Mario Party games with his friends and pretending to be a tourist around his own city. Ryan is also part of a Trivia team and competes with his friends across the Lower Mainland for Trivia Nights (although he does it mostly for fun). Besides that, Ryan is an avid traveler and hopes to travel across Europe one day.
